I received 5 bottles of wine in barter for some computer consulting services I performed last year for an individual. Id like to go ahead and fill out my 1099B and get it out of the way, and for that I need to get a reasonable idea of the value of this wine. Can anyone tell me a reliable place to look for this information?
Girard Napa Valley 2000
Morisoli Vineyard Cabernet 1998
V. Sattui Madeira (cant find year)
Grand Archer Chardonnay 2001
Clos du Bois Merlot 2000
I enjoy wine, but I dont know much about it. Many thanks to anyone who can help me locate this information. I want to get the taxes over with ASAP. The quicker I zap this stuff to Taxbrain, the better.

I don't know if these are your wines, your descriptions were not complete, but here are the matches I found:
1998 Rudd Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Girard Napa Valley $44.96
1998 Galleron Cabernet Sauvignon Morisoli Vineyard $150.00
V. Sattui Madeira (couldn't find this one) best guess: probably $10-$20 for this dessert wine
Grand Archer Chardonnay 2001 $17.99
2000 Clos du Bois Merlot $11.29
So my best estimate of the retail value of this wine is about $245 total. Did you get fairly compensated at that price?

All I know that the Morisoli was originally released at $98/bottle. Your best bet may be to use a search engine, Im sure you could get a lead on prices that way. How did you get those prices, jay? Wouldnt it be nice if there was a site that listed prices for all wines all in one place? Taxbrain is the place where you do taxes online, isnt it? Guess its almost that time again : (

I got the prices off the WineAccess site. They are listed as the "average retail prices" at which those wines are available...

I was recently at the V. Sattui winery and purchased their Madeira. A more accurate estimate of the wine is $30.00 per bottle. Hope that helps :)

I have a bottle of 1965 Chateau Lafite Rothschild Bordeaux wine that I purchased for a friend's wedding 25 years ago. He got a divorce before I could give it to him and now I wonder what it is worth. I should state that it has been on it's side since I received it but it has developed a slow leak and is not in perfect shape, although unopened. Would anyone have any idea what this is worth? Thank you
