As I mentioned in another thread, I've been searching for a good pinot noir that won't break the bank. Vinnie mentioned his most recent pinot find, the 1997 Kalinda pinot noir.
Last night I tasted it. This is the best $10 bottle of wine I've had in a long time.
Good pinot nose and flavor, striking the balance between lightness of body and fruit and tanins that I like in a Pinot Noir.
I think I'm going to have to stock up!
Available from K&L wines for $9.99

K&L's tasting notes are:
Medium-deep ruby in color and has the aromatics that suggest a very fine Cote-de-Nuits, dried rose petal floral notes with a background of a meaty/beefy quality. Medium-full in the mouth, the tannins are soft and silky, excellent structure and depth of character, with a finish that just refuses to quit. (K&L - Jim Barr)
