Any thoughts on using XML to transfer data up and down to the website? My idea would be to integrate the database to a local application. Although keeping my inventory in the web app is cool, I can imagine a local application could have lots more features, as well as integrating better with barcode scanners.
Example process : 1. User scans UPC in local app 2. XML request sent to web app with UPC code 3. If found, return XML record of wine info. If not found, prompt user for fields and send the new record to bottlecount for addition to database
The user's inventory would no longer be managed in the web app, but the database would get new wines added from the user.
