bGary, I wouldnt say that 1961 was the vintage of the century, but it is one of the vintages of the century - I would think 1945, 1982, 1953 and 1986 would be up there more or less with 1961, but what good company you are in. There may be some reasons to be circumspect however, as Angelus, though quite amazing now, had a patchy streak in earlier years. How is the neck fill? Any seepage? How certain are you that it was well stored?

I would open it while holding in reserve one or two other wines that you really like - let it breathe for two hours and see what you have got - if it doesnt work, then at least you will have the others to fall back on...Good luck
