| Wine Notes: | Thornbury is a newcomer to the winemaking scene, having been established in 1998. The winemaker/partner is Steve Bird, former Morton Estate winemaker. Currently, they make only three wines: this Chardonnay, a Merlot and a Sauvignon Blanc. The winery is located in Hawkes Bay. The Chardonnay and Merlot are from their vineyards there; the Sauvignon Blanc is from Marlborough. Food match: smoked salmon risotto. (Source: Vintages, May 10, 2003).
