Wine Notes: | The flagship Laughing Stock red opens with chocolate, vanilla, menthol, and savoury, sage notes flecked with cool-climate peppery, cassis, tobacco leaf and cranberry aromas. The attack is dry, fresh and round with a slightly tart palate and light tannins. It was a cool year. More cool coffee, coconut, chocolate, cranberry, cassis, orange peel, herbal, and cedar, vanilla flavours mark the palate. The finish is warm with some astringency to shed. The oak is dominant rat the moment and that and a cool year suggests that you will need to be patient before it settles down Whichever way you handle your Portfolio you’ll be rewarded. Sweet plum and dried herbs on the nose lead you into a juicy palate of redcurrant, cassis, lifted wild raspberry and potent tobacco leaf. Layers of flavours result from the well-handled Bordeaux blend of 42% cabernet sauvignon, 32% merlot, 18% malbec, 6% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot. Full-bodied without being oak-driven. |
