| Wine Notes: | Another excellent Italian value, from the region of Puglia, is Guagnano Salice Salentino Rosso Riserva 1998 ($13.95, No. 724328). It's rich and plummy, with notes of licorice, tobacco and leather and dry tannins. It should go nicely with hearty meat dishes, such as stews. (Beppi Crosariol, Globe and Mail, August 21, 2004). A jammy, plush Italian wine for grilled meat. The aromas suggest blackberry, tobacco, dried flower, plum and tar. It is dry, rich and balanced. Medium full-bodied with a long finish.
