Wine Notes: | In 1855, Vittorio degli Albizi returned from Burgundy to manage his family’s property (today’s Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi) in the Pomino region of Tuscany. Aged for 15 months in French oak barriques, Frescobaldi’s Pomino Rosso is a medium- to full-bodied blend of Sangiovese and Pinot Noir with a hint of Merlot and Malvasia Rossa. Raspberry and mineral aromas carry through from the nose to the palate, tannins are notably silky and the finish is fresh and juicy. This wine will go on improving for four more years but is drinking well now, a lovely partner for bistecca alla Fiorentina (Florentine T-bone steak.)
