Wine Notes: | Wine Spectator April 1997 - Delicious already, this is bursting with berry, black cherry, spice and vanilla flavors that remain juicy through the racy finish. With a bit more grip it would be a real ager, too. A blend of Zinfandel and Petite Sirah. 300 cases made. This wine is a blend of 50% Zinfandel from Cucamonga and 50% Petite Sirah from Pope Valley. The grapes were fermented in small, open top vats. The must was fortified at 12 brix and left on the skins for an additional 2 weeks before pressing. The wine was aged for 2 years in both French and American oak before bottling in October 1996. The resulting wine contains 16.2% alcohol and 9.35% residual sugar. It is well suited as an after dinner and dessert wine. |
