Wine Notes: | The name ‘Monsanto’ (meaning ‘holy place’) is taken from the medieval village where the cellar is situated. The property was established in 1750 and purchased by the Bianchi family in 1961. Though its history has always been important to them, the Bianchi family does not live in the past. Aldo Bianchi immediately created vineyards to match the type of Sangiovese he thought fit the place. His son Fabrizio has now stepped in to continue his father’s innovations. This medium ruby coloured wine with aromas of blackberry, cherry and a hint of raisin would suit a rich meat pasta sauce to a tee. (Source: Vintages, June 2003). |
