I came across a 1933 borghini porcelain wine decatur w/some wine still in it. The bottle is made of porcelain with a wire handle. The shape of the bottle looks like an old lantern. It is designed so that a candle can be placed in the middle of it, with the handle raised & a candle lit you could see at night. I guess that is what the purpose was. It has a carving at the top of a knight slaying a dragon. Any info is appreciated. >

I own a large glass decanter of Borghini Chianti shaped in a knight with armor. I can't tell how old it is but I know it's never been opened. Can anyone tell me how old it is or how much it's worth?

I searched and searched for this "Knight" bottle of wine. I recently came into possesion of one of these unopened bottles and am curious as to it's origins. I would love more information about it if you can help. All I have found are more questions...

Italia Marchio Nazionale
Vintage imported by Roberti's house of wines
Portland, OR

it is a 3 liter Knight shaped bottle of Chianti

Denominazione Di origine controllata garantita "Borghini" red wine bottled in italy by Gabriele Borghini fu Canzio
Certaldo - Italia

I have a glass wine decanter that has never been opened. It is a head of a unicorn at the base, and then on top of that is the horn, in which you can open at the top of the horn. The entire decanter is 28" tall. It says Chianti Borghini on the bottle. Could you tell me how old this is, and if it is worth anything? Thanks in advance for your answer.

Have you received any more info on this bottle? I have just come into ownership of my own. Thanxs

Linda 12/05/2005 at 08:27 PST [Reply]

Hi, I've been trying to identify a 28" Unicorn head shaped bottle of Borghini Chianti, and your posting in 2004 helped a little in that it identified the name of the producer. Then, after reading the responses I wondered if you sold it and for how much. A friend of mine has an unopened bottle and wants to sell it if possible. She has no idea of what its value is. If you get a sec to answer this I'd appreciate it.
Linda

I have empty bottles - I can';t find any info on- including - Abbot's choice shaped like an abbot, Casa Viniccola, shaped like a monk holding a glass of wine, Fraynor Royale bottle which is a Parisian man in a Sandwichboard, a "Zorro" Royal Doulton holding a red wine glass, a borghini race car... Any advice on where to look for values? I have others, too. Any help is appreciated.

  David R. 11/24/2004 at 16:29 PST [Reply]

I have an unopened bottle of Augusto & Borghini Lacrima Christi white wine. The bottle is shaped like a man leaning against the tall trunk of a tree that's been cut off above his head. A couple of lower branches have been cut off closer to the ground. He's wearing simple clothes with shoes that have long laces wrapped around his calves, and a simple pointed hat. He also wears a blue open jacket with white cuffs turned up at the wrist and the shirt underneath has a loose scarf tied around his neck and down the front. He's holding a pipe in his right hand and his left hand is in his pocket. The bottle states it holds a pint of wine, and there is clearly liquid inside.

I think it's a delightful find and I hope to learn more about it.

I just found one of these Borghini leather elephant wine bottles at an antique mall and fell in love. I paid about $35 Canadian, but want to know what it's worth and its year. I can't find anything about it on the 'Net. Bottle is empty, original tag is attached. Casa Borghini Italia Vin Santo, vino liquoroso, 16%, .75 L (from my memory). Any ideas?

I have the same bottle as David R 11/24/04. I assume this was a matching pair. I have the matching lady holding a jug on her head, with a white ruffle around the neck of her dress, and a turquoise apron. She is standing on a pedestal with oranges and flowers. Both bottles are 1 pint & bottled in 1933.

Would like info and value.

Have obtained an unopened "knight in armor" bottle. The label reads "Pulica Chianti" and was imported from Italy by Siena Imports of San Francisco in 1979. It is green and 1.5 liters. The label also says "Denominazione Di Origine Controllata, produced in Italy and bottle by CB Certaldo Italia. I have searched the internet and emailed Siena Imports, but have not found anything. Any information or where to look next would be fantastic. Would really like to know if it is truly a treasure. Thanks, Roxana
