Wine Notes: | Tasting note: This wine, one of two of the flagship Normans' wines, was made at Norman's Clarendon Winery with fruit sourced from old, low-yielding vines from both McLaren Vale and Barossa. It's a big brooding 'mother' with a bouquet dominated by sweet, rich licorice, blackberry and cherry aromas plus whiffs of French ... oak. This intensity carries through to the palate with sweet, mouth filling fruit and layers of choc-mint, coconut and aniseed culminating in a lip smacking long finish. Sure you can drink it now, but three to five years in the cellar will reward the prudent. (www.food-fun-wine.com.au, Jan. 2003) Food match: rich beef stew, osso bucco.
