Wine Notes: | One of our co-cover bottles this month, Malivoire's Rosé is unusual because it combines white (Chardonnay) and red (Gamay and Cabernet Franc) grapes. Each variety was vinified separately before blending. Owner Martin Malivoire recommends this wine be served chilled with Mediterranean-style food prepared with oil, garlic and olives, with bouillabaisse or tapas. It's also great with traditional pizza. Pale Day-Glo pink colour with aromas of strawberry, cherry, golden rod and citrus. Dry, fruity with a touch of spritz and acid for freshness. Medium-bodied and medium finish. (David Churchill, March 2003) Food match: cucumber and goat cheese sandwiches on focaccia bread. (Source: Vintages, May 2003). |
