Wine Notes:  The 2001 Mission Hill Reserve Sauvignon Blanc offers an understated herbal aroma with bright citrus notes. This wine is every bit as delightful on the palate with its' rich flavours of gooseberry and green apple, balanced with a bright fresh acidity so indicitive of Okanagan wines. A wine of memorable fruit intensity and style. 2001 marked one of the warmest years ever in the Okanagan Valley. Monthly temperature variations were significant during the gowing season. April was quite cool, while May brought with it much warmer days, and a period of intense heat. August came in with beautiful hot weather, and it stayed above average for the rest of the summer. By the time harvest commenced, we had accumulated heat units far above the long-term average. Careful vineyard management continues to yield conservative crop levels with fruit size and colour being quite good. Vineyards planted six years ago are now mature and yielding well balanced, high quality fruit. Overall, indications suggest the quality of the 2001 harvest could be the best in a decade. Grapes: 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Vineyards: Osoyoos, Oliver. Case Production: 1,200 cases. Bronze Medal - Canadian Wine Awards, 11/2002, Winery of the Year - Canadian Wine Awards, 11/2001 (Source: Mission Hill web site).
