| Wine Notes: | Basically, it's hard to go wrong in the Rhône Valley with the 2000 vintage ... In the south, I give 2000 an overall rating of 93 points, or outstanding, on the Wine Spectator 100-point scale. Many winemakers had billed the vintage as being close to the quality of the classic-rated '98 (95 points), and it doesn't miss by far, being a marriage between the powerful '98 and the elegant '99 (87 points).
