| Wine Notes: | ST: Blackish garnet, slightly lighter at the edge. Quite spicy on the nose, along with very ripe plum. Rich in extract and velvety in texture; the plummy fruit is ripe and fresh. Long, tarry finish shows a silky, elegant texture and benefits from enlivening acidity. Quite forward compared to the earliest, slow-maturing vintages of this wine such as the 1985 and 1990-partly a result of the vintage, but partly due, I believe, to a new philosophy in the cellar. |
