| Wine Notes: | The 2002 vintage of Fume Blanc is our first official estate grown, produced, and bottled Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes were harvested from our American Canyon vineyard, an area that is cool, windy, and ideal for growing Sauvignon Blanc. The 2002 growing season was excellent with grapes ripening evenly, enabling us to complete our picking in just four days. This superb wine is reflective of its clay loam soil which gives a mineral quality and firm structure. The cooler climatic conditions also add vibrancy and life. On the palate, this Fume Blanc is broad and voluminous. There is power, yet the wine is soft and seductive. As you sip it, you will notice intriguing flavors of passion fruit, citrus, melon and fig, all derived from the Musque clone of commitment and passion for Sauvignon Blanc is clearly shown in this estate grown offering. |
