1998Bacio Divino MagnumBlend   1  90 RP
This full-bodied, textured, layered effort exhibits an opaque purple color and lush, delicious, plum, cherry, black currant, and sweet new oak notes. Deep, chewy, intense, and elegant, it is on a fast evolutionary track. An undeniable success for the vintage, it should be drunk over the next 6-7 years. 90 RP

1997Beaulieu Vineyard RutherfordCabernet   1
A great wine at $20 a bottle, this wine showed very well against its' impressive competition. It seemed to benefit greatly from the time in the glass. This is the first time I have had the wine with 3 hours of breathing time. In comparison to previous tastings of this wine with little breathing time, the wine had a very rich texture, with vibrant earthy cabernet flavors. It might not have the same life as some of the other cabernets, but proves itself as a great value at this price point. 93 points. Drink now to 2010. Rick Weissman

1989Chateau La ConseillanteBordeaux   1
More intense and structured than the 1982. Again, minerals/raisins on the nose - a dense palate. Quite a broody wine with toasty oak. Very silky and long. The wine-making has improved since 1982 but that earlier vintage is more involving at the moment. Leave it for 5+ years to soften. Still a brilliant wine.

1985Dom PerignonSparkling Wine   1
Simply a stunning wine. An elegant wine with creamy fruit. A wine to contemplate 2nd Elegant and charming, this Dom seems just a touch unimpressive for its pedigree. The finish is good, and the fruit lingers longer than anticipated. The wine has a ton of charm, and I enjoyed it a lot. But it also seemed a bit too light and inoffensive for a champagne of this caliber. Very good, but should really be better. 88 points.
1988Dom PerignonSparkling Wine   1  91 WS
Harmonious, this melts in your mouth. Complex fruit, spice and honey flavors mingle on a firm but luxurious texture and linger on the finish. Still has plenty of potential. Drink now through 2003

This dark-hued Cabernet Sauvignon displays aromas of cedar, earth and ripe black fruits cassis and black cherry primary among them. The tenor of the palate is elegant, showing black cherry and mocha flavors backed by suggestions of mineral, earth and new leather. Fine-grain tannins convey the firm core of fruit through a long, complex finish.

"Musky aromas of minerals, ginger and earth…Burgundian…Very rich and chewy, with dusty flavors of orange peel and earth. Full, generous and impressively deep. The impression of powdered stone gives the finish a tactile quality."

1997Laine Estate Reserve MerlotMerlot   2
This one is a plush, mellow blend of several Merlot Fruits and six different French Oaks. No disappearing volatile taste here, this wine grows its flavorfulness in your glass for several hours - we consider it an advanced palate Merlot. White Chocolate, plums, berries, currants and a special subliminal sweetness.
1997 Laine Estate Reserve Merlot, Napa Valley
1999Lamborn Family, The Solar Factor, Howell MountainZinfandel   1
This is a very fruit forward zinfandel displaying raspberry and cherry on the front of the pallet, with the darker blackberry fruit in the finish. This wine is extremely "round," very mouth filling, with super structure and soft tannins. Lurking between the many layers of this complex mountain zinfandel are the characteristic white pepper and spice components that we have come to expect.

The wine is an inky dark ruby color, with rich black fruit, stone fruit and vinous alcoholic aromas; it certainly smells like a Port! Stone fruit, plums and prunes on the palate offer a pleasant, rich but not cloying sweetness well balanced with lemony acidity; firm tannins are cloaked with substantial fruit.
