2005Chateau Beaulieu Comtes de TastesBordeaux, Supérieur CellarFloor186  89 RP
12/08 RP Made from a blend of 50% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc, and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, this is a sensational value-priced wine. It reveals a dense ruby/purple color along with a sweet nose of white chocolate, black cherries, cassis, and earth, excellent texture, medium body, and soft tannins. This beauty represents a sensational bargain-priced Bordeaux to enjoy over the next 5-6 years.1/07 RP The brilliant St.-Emilion consultant, Stephane Derenoncourt, fashions wines at this impeccably run Bordeaux Superieur estate from a blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Like so many smaller chateaux in 2005, this unbelievable offering as well as fabulous bargain transcends its class. There are 6,600 cases of this 2005, which achieved 13% alcohol naturally. It offers a dense purple color as well as a sweet nose of melted chocolate, cassis, and a subtle hint of wood. Opulent, round, and medium to full-bodied, it is ideal for drinking over the next 5-6 years (end RP). (explaining the wine's origen) The Bordeaux and Bordeaux-Supérieur Appellations terroir is regional. The red wines from these AOC's are made from grapes harvested all over Bordeaux from authorized grape varieties grown in all of the major soil types, using the region's traditional methods.
12/08 Wine getting better. Still needs time in the decanter but filling out a bit now. Very dry. 4/08 Wine needed a lot of time to open up. A little thin and austere but got better over the evening. Best to decant and let sit for several hours prior to drinking. 3/09 Wine drinking beautifully right now. Decant for an hour before drinking. Fine with or without food.
2005Chateau Faizeau Vieilles Vignes Bordeaux BlendBordeaux F1$20.994  90 RP
RP 4/08 Possibly the finest Faizeau made to date, this sleeper of the vintage reveals a deep ruby/purple color along with a lovely nose of kirsch, licorice, and pain grille. Full-bodied, ripe, and seamless with excellent harmony among its component parts, it hit 14.5% natural alcohol and is made from 100% Merlot. This extravagant, flamboyant effort should drink well for a decade.
3/09 Nice fruit but somewhat abrupt finish. Prefer the Reignac.
2004Chateau LatourBordeaux, Grand Cru F215012  95 RP
May/June 2007 from IWS Bright ruby-red. Classic aromas of currant, plum, graphite and minerals. Suave and smooth in the mouth, with a compelling sweetness and lushness for the vintage. At once easygoing and wonderfully complex, conveying a powerful soil character. The finish is ripely tannic, sweet and very long. This is wonderfully expressive today but the young 2006 may have even longer aging potential. Along with Chateau Margaux, my candidate for wine of the vintage. From RP - A terrific effort from Administrator Frederic Engerer and owner Francois Pinault, the dark ruby/purple-tinged 2004 Latour exhibits a strong cassis character intermixed with notes of crushed rocks, earth, cedar, and forest floor. Racy, elegant, but powerful with medium to full body, and sweet tannin, it will benefit from 5-7 years of cellaring, and should keep for three decades. It is a very impressive offering.
1998Chateau Mouton RothschildBordeaux CellarFloor 1  96 RP
Like many of its peers, the 1998 has filled out spectacularly. Now in the bottle, this opaque black/purple-colored offering has increased in stature, richness, and size. A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc (57% of the production was utilized), it is an extremely powerful, super-concentrated wine offering notes of roasted espresso, creme de cassis, smoke, new saddle leather, graphite, and licorice. It is massive, with awesome concentration, mouth-searing tannin levels, and a saturated flavor profile that grips the mouth with considerable intensity. This is a 50-year Mouton, but patience will be required as it will not be close to drinkability for at least a decade. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2050.
1998Chateau YquemSauternes CellarFloor 1  91
Parker's notes from '03...The 1998 Chateau Yquem was released several months ago. This estate does not allow tasting from cask (where the wine spends 42 months), and it is not released until five years after the vintage. The 1998 Yquem (95 points) is a great success. Made in an elegant style, it is not a blockbuster such as 1990, 1989, and 1988. It is well-delineated, with wonderfully sweet aromas of creme brulee, pineapples, apricots, and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, it is not as sweet as the biggest/richest Yquem vintages, but it is gorgeously pure, precise, and strikingly complex. Already approachable, it should evolve for 30-50 years ... without a doubt.

2003Guido Porro Santa Caterina BaroloNebbiolo CellarFloor 1  90
The 2003 Barolo Santa Caterina reveals fragrant, perfumed aromatics along with notes of cherries in liqueur, licorice and menthol that develop in the glass. It is a delicate, understated yet classic wine with notable detail. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2018.

2008Kopriva Cassidy RanchChardonnay F1 5
2006MalmaCabernet F38.505
Intensely ruby red in color with purple tints. Aromas of red berries such as cherry and strawberries. Fruity on the palate with subtle notes of spices and red pepper. A medium bodied wine with round tannins.
2006Rosenblum St. Peter's Church ReserveZinfandel  359  91
From divine origins comes a wine that is utterly sinful. Up front, layers of boysenberry, blackberry, chocolate and cracked white pepper seduce the senses. Across the palate, the dark, brambly berries pick up whispers of red fruit, held by a complex oak influence that adds structure and spice. Robust tannins hold the lush fruit through the finish. Rich, smooth and irresistible, this Zinfandel is worth a trip to confession. Pair with a meaty brasato or braised short ribs.

2008Smoke ScreenChardonnay F1153
Our 2008 Napa Valley Chardonnay is friendly and at the same time sophisticated. It has a lovely bouquet of pear, honeydew melon, yellow apple, citrus and minerals. This impeccably balanced wine is rich and full with bright flavors of pear and ripe apple. It has hints of citrus, minerality and sweet vanilla oak with a long, crisp finish.
2005Two Tone FarmsBlend F365
Two Tone Farms sources fruit from all over California to deliver quality wines at better-than-affordable prices. The 2005 marries bright, tangy black cherry Knight's Valley fruit with the red berry undertones of grapes from Paso Robles. Barrel aged in 60% French oak for soft tannins and complexity, there's also a splash of petite sirah, which richens the color and adds spicy blackberry fruit. The perfect pairing from pork chops to pepperoni pizza, you can never have too much of this wine on hand.
Delicious! 7/10.
