A favorite with people who don't drink wine much (but satisfies me too), and an excellent value.
2000Castello di Querceto Chianti ClassicoSangiovese Counter181  91
WS 91 elicious, with blackberry and chocolaty character. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a fresh, minerally finish. This is serious Chianti. Drink now.
Heavy currant and powerful finish, even "past its prime" still benefits from decanting time.

NVFreixenet Cordon Negro BrutSparkling Wine Fridge9.001  85
The Freixenet Cordon Negro with its hint of pencil shavings highlights this dry-style cava; firm structure and cleansing finish; a value bubbly. 85 WS, 86 Wilfred Wong
The best of the cheap Sparklings, always kept around.

2000Graham's Vintage PortoPort Cooler1601  98
Smells like freshly picked orchids, with loads of ripe, clean fruit. Full-bodied, medium sweet and very powerful and racy. It lasts for minutes on your palate. Yet there's a balance and class to this young Vintage Port. This is the greatest glass of Graham I have ever tasted, young or old. 98 WS

2000Rosenblum Holbrook Mitchell TrioRed Wine Cooler301  92
This wine is elegant and velvety, exhibiting a rich core of fruit intensity. The bouquet is of opulent ripe black cherry with black olive and black currants, but showing a hint of menthol and chocolate. The flavors are rich black cherry with ripe blackberry jam and a creamy cassis overtone. The velvety soft aftertaste of creamy cherry, black olive, and violets, is enticing. 92 WE, 89 WS
2000Rutherford Hill Cabernet SauvignonCabernet Cooler301  82
From Winery "Concentrated cassis and blackberry fruit aromas draw you into this wine. This fruit core is elegantly wrapped in hints of vanilla, clove, cigar box, and faint whiffs of olives and smoked meat. In the mouth the fruit is as pronounced and lingering as it is in the nose. The layers of fruit, spice, and oak unfold and integrate seamlessly into the lingering finish. The acid balance and fully mature tannins make this wine rich in the middle and velvety soft on the finish with the ability to improve through the next decade." 82 WS
2000Spelletich Cellars Cabernet SauvignonCabernet Cooler452  88
Intense and concentrated, with a tight focus to the core of anise-scented black cherry and blackberry fruit. Finishes with integrated tannins. Dusty blueberry aftertaste. Drink now through 2010. 1,364 cases made. 88 WS

Everything a great cab should be, big, balanced, lots of fruit and spice.
My favorite wine.

2000Von Strasser Wine Co. Diamond Mountan District Cabernet SauvignonCabernet Cooler543  89
A firm ripeness carries through this cabernet, lengthening the flavors of black and red fruit, yet never overpowering. When first poured, it's four square with dark jam scents, but quickly grows to be morethan that. The structure becomes almost filigreed with air, adding mountain scents of sassafras and sumac to preface the deepening of the red fruit. 92 WE, 89 WS, 92 W&S
