2002 | Goldwater Dog Point | Sauvignon Blanc | | $19.95 (CDN) | | 90 (WS) |
Bright, vivid, aromatic Sauvignon Blanc, fragrant with lime and passion fruit, leaning toward mineral notes as the flavors linger on the zingy finish. Drink now. 13,000 cases made. (Source: Wine Spectator, December 15, 2002) |
2001 | Red Birch | Sauvignon Blanc | | $16.95 (CDN) | | 88 (WS - 2000 vintage) |
Red Birch is a joint venture between John and Brigid Forrest of Forrest Estate Wines and Terry and Lynley Sowman of Sowman Estate. The 2001 vintage won a Gold Medal at the 2002 InterVin International Wine Competition in Ontario. Our panel's tasting note: Pale straw colour with aromas of lime zest, gooseberry, passion fruit and tamarind. Dry, pretty wine with good balance between the fruit and the acid. Light to medium-bodied with a solid finish. An excellent apéritif wine. (Dec. 2002) Food match: chicken, snow pea and shiitake mushroom stir-fry. (Source: Vintages, June 2003). Comments on 2000 vintage: Bright and refreshing, with lime, Bosc pear and mineral flavors that echo nicely on the finish. 3,000 cases made. (Wine Spectator, September 15, 2001). |
